Worked 'B' Heads
The heads have been treated to something between a 'clean-up' and a mild port job. As I did the headwork myself, I was pretty conservative in removing material. Although I had access to a flow bench, I'm the first to acknowledge that I'd likely have been hacking on the heads ratehr than porting them if I went any further than I did. Also, I've read that the 'B' (96-98) heads have less desireable velocity characteristics relative to the 'C' (99-02) heads. So again, I figured less material removal was better than more.

Considering how little material I removed, the flow numbers are respectable (IMHO). No doubt, the Serdi valve job by VT Competition Engine Development is responsible for a large portion of the gains. Some shops are reporting flow numbers as great as 330 on the intake side and 255 on the exhaust side. It will be interesting to see what the power differential looks like between my relatively mild heads/cam combo and more agressive combos.

I spent a good amount of time cleaning up the combusion chambers and polishing them. I also spent quite a bit of time hand lapping each valve to its seat (matching each valve to the seat where it will be installed). I've read that this is not necessary with a Serdi valve job, but that it's preferred so that the seat width can be confirmed and so that the best possible valve-to-seat interface is achieved.
