The Hawker Genesis G16EP is a compact, sealed lead-acid rechargeable battery. The performance benefit of the G16EP stems from its size and weight. The
G16EP is about one-third the weight and about 30% the volume of an OE Mustang Battery. The G16EP weighs in at 13.5 lbs and has a volume of about 142 cubic inches. In comparison, the OE battery of a 4.6L Cobra weights about 40 lbs and has a volume of
about 482 cubic inches. The G16EP is 7.15" long by 3" wide by 6.6" tall, whereas the OE battery in a 97 Cobra is 9.5" long by 7.25" wide by 7" tall.
The standard G16EP costs about $60 and is available from authorized Hawker distributors such as
Southwest Electronic Energy Corporation (800-231-3612). In its standard configuration, the G16EP ships with threaded brass terminals rather than automobile-type posts. It should be noted that the G16EP can be special ordered with automobile-type posts
rather than threaded terminals.
The 6mm threaded terminal of the standard G16EP can be drilled and tapped to accept standard automobile-type screw-in posts. Most standard screw-in posts have a 3/8" (coarse) threaded mounting screws. It is
recommended to apply a bead of RTV around the perimeter of the threaded stud of the screw-in post to reduce the potential for water, coolant, etc causing corrosion at the threaded interface of the post and the terminal.

A big thanks to GrussR from Corral.Net for the lead on this battery. Hopefully, his hunch that the DynaBatt is a private-label version of the G16EP is
correct. Based on the physical and electrical properties of the G16EP, it appears as though the DynaBatt and G16EP are the same item. Time will tell...although, I'll be playing it safe and carrying the jumper cables with me for the next few
weeks. |
