James Arnett

Pen & Ink Artist, specializing in railroad subjects

Contents

Background

I am an artist specializing in railroad drawings using pen & ink as my medium. I also use colored pencils to hand-color the prints which I produce from the original drawings. I find that this adds an enormous amount of interest to the basic black and white image. In the future, I will be exploring colored inks as well as other media.

Below, you will find samples of my drawings. Although my favorite railroads are the Frisco and the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio, I enjoy drawing locomotives of all U.S.and Canadian railroads. At the present time, I have completed over 100 drawings. The railroads that I have drawn so far are: Atlantic Coast Line Ry; Santa Fe Ry; Burlington Northern RR; Burlington Northern Santa Fe RR; Baltimore & Ohio RR; Chicago, Burlington & Quincy RR; Canadian National Ry; Canadian Pacific Ry; Colorado & Southern Ry; Erie RR; Fort Worth & Denver Ry; Gulf, Mobile & Northern RR; Gulf, Mobile & Ohio RR; Great Northern Ry; Illinois Central RR; Louisville & Nashville RR; Missouri Pacific RR; Mobile & Ohio RR; Nashville, Chattanooga & St.Louis Ry; Northern Pacific Ry; Quanah, Acme & Pacific Ry; Frisco Ry; Southern Pacific RR; Spokane, Portland & Seattle Ry; Southern Ry; Texas & Pacific Ry; Union Pacific RR; Western & Atlantic RR; and Wabash Ry.
