Sumo Power Ratings Links Page

If you like this site, here are some links to other sites that I think you might find interesting as well. Below are pages on sumo, on ratings, and of course on sumo ratings. Enjoy.

Sumo Rating Pages

Sumo Information
A wonderful site. If nothing else, I have to give thanks to this site for providing the source data for the information presented here. My two favorite features of this site are Masumi Abe's Quality Index ratings for each basho and the ability to see the results of the head-to-head matches between two rikishi.
Sumo Database
Another perspective on sumo rankings. Similar to the Quality Index mentioned above, but with a few refinements added. Contains a nice form for getting the results for rikishi in a given basho, or against a given opponent.

Sumo Pages

SumoWeb!
Generally speaking, I don't look for match commentary on the web. Between watching the matches on Sumo Digest and reading commentaries on the sumo mailing list, I get my fill. But if I needed commentary on the web, here's where I'd look. The reports are well written, and the images are a very nice touch. Many of the other columns here are a good read as well.
Totoro's Sumo Page
Provides answers to many Frequently Asked Questions (they really need an acronym for that). Well written and accurate (two things not always easy to find on the web).
Masumi's Home Page
Not strictly a sumo web site; contains information on sumo records and heya/ichimon information.
Bandey's Sumo Page
The best site on the web I have seen for pictures of past and present rikishi. Also a good source for data, including the names of all the people involved in sumo (the rikishi, the oyakata, the gyoji, etc.)

Power Rating Pages

Massey's Rating's and Rankings
Power rating information for many sports. The Theory section contains several essays on developing your own power rating system. The approachs here differ from my to the extent that they are more mathematically complex (matrices and/or calculus is used), so a solid understanding of math helps here.
Jeff Sagarin's Computer Ratings
Otherwise known as the USA Today Power Ratings. Contains power ratings for many major sports. As far as I can tell, the power rating system is the same as the mine. No "how-to" information here though.
