Comments: I am enjoying your website. I too am looking for Melton's. My grandfather's name was George Washington Melton, he married Margaret Ella Raines. I don't know anything of their past. I do have the information of their children and down. I would love to make some connections. I was told that all of Geo. and Marg. children were all born in AR.

Comments: Hi Joan ~ Ages have passed. Was really nice to see your photo and your webpage. Very enjoyable. Looks like you have really been digging a giant of a hole in your ancestry ~ I have tried to find out a bit more on my father's side of the house but I guess I really don't know how to go about doing it. I take it by spells. Lately I've been spending time on my son's (only have 1 child almost 53 now) computer, trying to write poems. They are corny but they are about places I've been, things I've done, things that I own like my grandmother's sugar bucket and ice bucket, even her old iorn wash pot she use to boil clothes in. My son on the www above has put some of these poems out there. I did not know he did this till after it was on the www. He is into model railroading and he has a www out there too. They are all linked together. He took an early retirement package from EDS and moved back to East Texas. I have some photos ~ will have to look them up. Let me hear from you. We are 3rd cousins. you know. Love Bessie

Comments: Hi Joan, I loved your page. You have obviously done a LOT of very detailed work on it. I just thought I would pass on a small warning. If you got any of your information from Michael Leisure, please try to verify it from other sources. I have told him repeatedly that he has incorrect information about my grandfather, William Albert Melton b. April 1866 in Arkansas and he will not correct it, he has my grandmother married to the wrong man, she was only married ONCE. I have my information straight from HER, before her death in 1979, I trust her information before someone I don't know.

Good luck in your search and once again your site is wonderful

Comments: My father, brother , grandfather and great grandfather are all called Richard and were born in London. I would love to hear from other Meltons in the UK to try and build a better picture of our history. Unfortunatly both my father and grandfather were hopeless at keeping in touch with their family.

Comments: Dear Joan, Your web page is great. The way that I got to it was looking for Melton relatives that came by the way of a Jessee Melton born c 1770-80 Albemarle Cty Va and died 1933 in Anson Cty NC. Jessee Melton had a son Robert C c1810 who with Henrietta c1815 children Alexander, Harriet, Wm H. Sarah, Emeline and then Mary Jane whom somewhere is believed to be in my family. 1880 Census Old Store Twp (Pageland area) it showed a Mary Jane Hill. Enumerated with Mary Jane Hill was Sarah Melton age 27 John age 8, Lillie V, age 6 Ada F, age 4 and then Towney age 1 my GF. For years have searched for this family. Mary Jane Hill died Jan 13, 1913 and buried in City Of the Dead. At her funeral was a RC Melton listed as brother Mrs John A. Taylor with whom she lived at the time of death. and a Mrs A Allen and Mrs Seabourne Carter. Now I new Mary Jane was a Melton but still I don,t know who Sarah was married to. Why was she living with Mary Jane, was she married to Mary Janes Brother? Mary Jane was born in 1838 only other male listed in that family was a Wm H. Or could the Sarah listed as Mary Janes sister be the Sarah on the 1880 census? She would have been born in 1853 15 years after MJ. So many questions and no answeres. I sure hope that you have a great day. Grady Melton
