was about 21. Although he is not acknowledged as her son, Willie W. lives with her in 1900, 1910, and
1920. It is also possible that Willie is the son of Laura's brother John H. Melton. In 1910 , Willie
is listed as Laura's "Nephew". In 1900 he is a nephew to John W. Wingfield, while Laura is a
"sister-in-law" and her brother John H. is "brother-in-law" to Mr. Wingfield.
This brings up point #2, which is that John W. Wingfield must have married a daughter of Peter and
Martha prior to 1900, and she must have died prior to 1900. Possible candidates for this marriage
are Mary A. and Martha A., since Ida Roberta (Bertie) married Joseph J. Walton in 1887. This would
be interesting to explore further. Parents: Peter Wade I Melton and Martha A. Irving.

He was buried on 30 Jan 1902 in 3rd boy named Charles, the other two died young.. He has reference number 19. He was manager of Western Union and went from state to state opening up new telegraph offices.
He just happened to be in Lima, Montana when my father, Julian C. Melton was born. At the times of
his death, he caught pneumonia while opening up new offices in Leadville, Colorado. My grandmother
moved to Fort Worth, Texas after his death. Grandmother A. L. Inge, said he was very, very smart. He
was also suppose to have had a wonderful personality. He had very light golden hair and bright blue
eyes. All of the people from the Melton and Inge families had blonde hair.

Note that Beulah should have been born in 1898 if she is 2, so the person who transcribed the data from the original census to the Soundex card probably made an error with her birth year, or maybe it too is
wrong in the original census.
On a 1900 census made on 20 June 1900 Charles, Anne, Lola,Julian and Bealah were in Hombert Precint Ne.17, Colorado. Parents: Peter Wade I Melton and Martha A. Irving.
