“I want to teach
athletes that working hard and having fun can go hand in hand. By
preparing for a season of volleyball it will help prepare them for
the next level of the game. I want the players to focus on why they
first started playing volleyball, for the “LOVE” of the game.”

“I believe in
defining team and individual goals early and then developing the
foundation and strategy to achieve them. I like for the girls I coach to
learn what it means to depend on their teammates while at the same time
learning what it means for others to rely on them. That is why teamwork
and commitment are a major focus for all of my teams. There is only one
way to succeed in anything and that is to give it everything. That is
what I expect from my team and that is what they can expect from me."

“I have always wanted to
have a positive impact on people's lives, and have found that coaching
is a way to develop positive relationships with young adults in an
environment that can provide invaluable life lessons in leadership,
communication, and the value of commitment and a good work ethic. My focus is centered on open
two-way communication, hard work, and most of all having fun. By implementing
the appropriate skills and techniques, my goal as a coach is to develop the
abilities of my athletes by providing a team environment that breeds confidence
and challenges players to set goals, work hard and reach to exceed their
expectations."

“My philosophy is simple.
Have Fun!! I have learned through my years of playing and coaching, that
having fun is a very important ingredient in the key to success. If you
are not having fun or playing with passion, then it is hard to give it all
you have during practice and competition. So many of our young athletes
are put into situations of a highly competitive field, and the fun is
sometimes taken away. I have found that this usually hinders the player’s
ability to improve in creativity and skill. In my training, I try to
instill a good sense of discipline in all aspects of the game, but to
maintain the attitude that volleyball is just a game, and to enjoy it
while you can. I am a very vocal and energetic person and I try to pass
this on to my players at all times. As a coach I am always willing to give
instruction or advice to those seeking it.”
Mark graduated from South Garland High School. His Junior
and Senior year he participated in the volleyball program as a roamer
during practices and coached the summer league team. Mark was a starting
setter and captain for four years while playing with Addison Volleyball
Club. Two of those years he was awarded National All American by the AAU.
In 1995 he was also awarded tournament MVP in two tournaments. Since
graduating Mark has been an avid outdoor player. He has also played four
seasons as a setter for a men's USAV team. In 2002 Mark was the Assistant
Coach at Eastfield College and he was also the Head Coach for the 6th
grade team at the Prince of Peace Catholic School. Mark is entering his
fifth year with Skyline Juniors. He has coached various summer camps as
well as worked three National High Performance Tryouts. Mark was the Head
coach for the 16 Gold team in 2003 and took his team to a 5th place finish
in the North Texas Region. In 2004 he was the Head Coach for the 16
National team where he had three top three finishes at Junior National
Qualifiers, and just missed qualifying for Junior Olympic Nationals by two
points in game three of all the semi-final matches at all three
tournaments. This past season he was the head coach for 15 RoShamBo were

"I believe that training the
basic fundamentals of the game is key to any program. My main focus in

My goal and desire is to
win, but I like to focus on improving the girls as well for their futures."

"I
believe that having the basic fundamentals is the most important aspect in the
game of volleyball. Without the basics you have no foundation. I also believe
that defense wins games and it should be stressed in the learning process.
Finally, I think it is important to instill a competitive spirit in the
athlete's mentality which will help them focus on the desire to win."

“Much of what I
believe in has been embedded in the Mission and Core Values of the
Skyline Organization. I constantly seek to encourage and instruct
my athletes as often as possible. I see myself not only as a coach
but as a ‘trainer”; a trainer of fundamentals, disciplines and
responsibilities. It is my goal to teach my athletes to play hard
no matter who their opponent is while always reinforcing the
importance of keeping the game fun and enjoyable.” My favorite
quote is from Colleen Hacker…”The object in any team sport is to
transform the group from a mere collection of talented individuals
into a highly cohesive unit so that the whole is greater than the
sum of its parts.”

“I
believe that the role of the coach begins with the teaching of the
fundamentals of the game. Players that learn and practice these fundamentals
improve their own skills and are able to use the talent that they have to
their fullest. I also believe that as a coach you have the responsibility of
encouraging and motivating the players you are working with. Finally, I like
to instill in the girls I work with team unity. I like them to learn to
depend on each other as well as to encourage each other in all situations.”
Glenn is
coming to Skyline this year after having several successful club seasons and
developing great relationships with his team players and parents. Glenn began
playing volleyball in high school in Pennsylvania where his high school team was
the Pennsylvania High School Boys Volleyball Champions all three years he
played. He also played five years of volleyball on club teams. His past two
coaching assignments were with the Victory Volleyball Club where he coached the
15 National team two years ago and the 12 National Team this past season. His
team this past year won the Redlands Tournament in Oklahoma, finished 9th
in the Southern California National Qualifier, 5th at the Lone Star
National Qualifier and 3rd in the North Texas Regional Qualifier.
Prior to that, Glenn coached the 13 National Team with Dallas Summit where his
team was the North Texas Regional Champion and qualified for J. O. Nationals.
Glenn was also the founder and head coach for the 12 National and 16 National
teams with North Texas Fury. Glenn currently works for the Richardson
Independent School District in Administration and has coached club for the past
five years.
