Pictured at their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary are Donna and Donald Volkman, the matriarch and patriarch of our family. Don and Donna began the building and land development business in 1972 with Hogan Acres and Timber Green in Burleson.
Donald served in World War II and fought in the battle to claim the Remagen Bridge in Germany, and numerous other skirmishes. Donald received the Silver Star for his bravery.
Both Don and Donna attended Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth. After graduating, Donna taught school in the Alvarado and Burleson School Districts for 15 years. They have spent the last 27 years giving support to their family and traveling across the U.S. with their 6 grandchildren.
Donald is now retired and operates Crowley Mini Storage. Don and Donna now spend their time traveling across the country to listen to live Western Swing Music. |
