Mission Statement: "To seek and provide the resources and programs necessary for individuals to achieve literacy."

Our participants range in age from 4 to 70 plus and reside in Williamson and North/Northwest Travis Counties. Education or life-based goals are set by our participants, and all programs are open-entry, open-exit and self-paced. Services are provided at no cost to program participants.

Services are provided through trained volunteers and staff, and are offered in small groups or one-on-one. Services include: pre-GED and GED studies, English as a Second Language, basic literacy, adult basic education, family literacy and workplace literacy.

Volunteer Opportunities include becoming a literacy tutor in GED studies, English as a Second Language, or basic literacy. As a literacy volunteer, dedicated and caring staff members and committed volunteers are available to train you to be an effective and competent tutor, to provide all the materials you and your student(s) will need, and to support you in any way possible. Volunteers also assist the Literacy Council by providing special services related to their professional skills, coordinating programs and volunteers, assisting with data collection and management, producing publications and in a variety of other ways too numerous to list.
