On December 13, 1880~ a small group of believers met at the League Schoolhouse for the purpose of organizing a church. After due deliberation and Godly consultation they shaped the following constitution:

Whereas God in His Providence has made room for us a Missionary Baptist Church of Christ, therefore be it resolved that we request Elders W. M. Gray, B. H. Miller, and J. T. Dean who are present to organize themselves into a Presbytery and and constitute us into a Missionary Baptist Church of Christ The Presbytery called Elder W. M. Gray as Moderator and B. H. Miller as secretary. The following named brethren and sisters bring letters from Missionary Baptist Churches:

Brethren G. L. Parker and wife, C. G. Hudson and wife, R. O. Echols and wife, J. M. Echols and wife, Brother B. B. Mitchell, Sisters Texana Echols, S. E. Parker, Ann Garrett, H. (F?) Shelton, Susan Lawrence, and Brother M. R. Hopson. These were organized upon the following constitution and abstract of the Saline Baptist Association and Church Covenant as certified to the Presbytery to be called the Missionary Baptist Church at Hopewell
