First we'd like to introduce ourselves to newcomers.  We're husband and wife writers who grew up in a small Texas town.  We write both together and apart, and have produced over two hundred novels ranging from sagas of the American West and Westerns to Fantasies, Romances, and  Mysteries in the past thirty years.  Livia Reasoner writes mysteries and westerns under her maiden name Livia J. Washburn.  James has written under many names, including Dana Fuller Ross.

Check out what we've been up to.

When a series of bizarre deaths overtake a tiny Texas town, gunslinger Hell Jackson sets out to ride through the reign of terror and put an end to the killings.  Jackson also gets an unwanted partner: Everett Sidney Howard, a cub reporter from New York City looking to make a name for himself riding alongside a famous gunman. Together the two face a gauntlet of dangers from rustlers, night riders, and more unexpected foes, as they close in on a murderous gang that'll stop at nothing to get what they want.

James Reasoner. Point Blank (www.pointblankpress.com), $16.95 paper (152p) ISBN 978-0-8095-7245-8

With a simple but effective plot and understated prose, this outstanding "redneck noir" successfully gives the windswept Texas plains the feel of mean city streets. Young, callow Toby McCoy appears at an isolated farmhouse, apparently just seeking work. Soon he’s plowing the fields, feeding the hogs and making eyes at Grace Halligan, the lovely older woman who owns the place. Just as the two move beyond a professional relationship, strange gunmen appear at the farm, forcing the lovers to reveal the extent of their mutual deceptions as they hit the road—with two dogs in the back of their pickup truck—in search of a double-crossing bank robber and the money he owes Grace. In the spirit of the genre, Reasoner (Texas Wind) saves the final chilling revelations for the very end, captivating the reader with other twists and turns along the way. Berkley Books
followed by THE GAMBLERS, THE KILLERS, and a fourth book The TROOPERS will be published March 2009

It's 1876. Dan Ryan, formerly, of Custer's 7th Cavalry, is leading a party of prospectors to the Black Hills-Sioux territory-where gold was discovered two years before. Although off-limits to whites, the region is overrun by so many fortune-seekers that the U.S. Army is powerless to stop then. Besides, what's a paper treaty worth next to gold-rich land?

In nearby Deadwood, men raise hell all night after, prospecting all day. An outlaw town with no right to exist on Indian land, Deadwood is a lawless cesspool where those who strike it rich can lose everything-including their lives. Possibly the meanest man in the Dakotas, Al Swearengen sells liquor that can poison a man when gold is involved. And now, even Calamity Jane and the legendary Wild Bill Hickok--losing his eyesight but still finding trouble-are coming to stake their claim.

Dan Ryan is going to have to fend off roaming gunmen, angry Sioux, ruthless gamblers, whores, and thieving prospectors in order to protect his claim, because in `the Badlands of Deadwood, trouble always comes at you from behind...
