The Gulf Coast Division Web site is mostly back! The server returned around 4 pm Saturday afternoon. There was damage to database tables, which is still being addressed by restoring from backed up data held by the Division. Still, you are now better off going back to the regular Web site http://www.gulfcoastfencing.org than using the temporary site. There are a lot of loose ends (including neating up the page you are reading) which will get wrapped up as soon as the Webmaster has time.
Database table results_events was damaged and had to be restored. Table results_fencers was damaged and had to be restored. Table results_tournaments has been found to be damaged too, and work is still in progress.
The Official Web site of the Gulf Coast Division of the United States Fencing Association is temporarily down.
The hosting company has had a server out of commission since around 2 AM Friday morning. The Gulf Coast Web site is hosted on that server.
At 9:07 PM Friday evening, the hosting company finally published an estimate that the problem would be fixed in two to three more hours. By noon Saturday, hosting was not yet restored, there was no new announcement, but there was some evidence that the server was starting to be restored to service. At "2:08 PM" (it's confusing what time zone this means; the hosting company is in Mountain Time, but the announcment was made well before 2:08 MST!), the hosting company published an announcement that the server was being restored, with estimated completion in one hour.
In any case, no Gulf Coast data are at risk.
Some of the information from the official Gulf Coast Web site is being made available temporarily at another location while the server is unavailable. Note that the information is incomplete. Graphics are missing, and links are broken (any link which was important to you can be repaired with some effort; one needs just to ask).
Note: If you see information which appears to be from June or earlier, it probably just means that the Webmaster has not yet put the current data at the alternate location. (Much old data from the time of another outage six months ago is still present at the alternate location.)
