Initial Input Section

This is the initial screen you will receive when you want to place a new past student in the system.  The information that is shown in the white areas are the the default values.  An example would be Driver License Info, the default value for the state field, the two-letter aberration for the State, is 'OK' so if you do not enter anything there, the state of the driver license for this person is stored as 'OK'.  They could be changed to what every you want them to be, your own personal default values.  The default values come into place when you enter nothing for that question (field).  Anytime you asked the system questions concerning past students the your default values will stand out because you know what they are.  As a result you will be able to determine from the information received that single piece of information that you want was not given by that student.

The section titled 'MSF Card Number Issued' is set up for you to place the card number that was issued to the student.  ALL students that start the course will be issued a card number regardless if they pass or fail.  Presently MSF issues a card with the following number sequence: 'X-999999'.  The immediate question that comes to mind is what I do when a person fails the course.  The answer is very easy, just issue the next sequence number for a failed student, 'F-000000'.  How will I know the next sequence number of the failed student?  The answer is only a mouse pointer way.  If you leave the mouse pointer over the field, in which you will place the MSF Card Number, I will display,

The section titled 'Instructor Info' is set up for two instructors.  This was designed for the locations that work with more than six students on the range.  With the addition of an assistant MSF states you could work with up to twelve students on the range at one time.  You could place the lead instructor in the first position and the assistant in the second position.  With just that action you will be able to determine whom was lead and who was the assistant during a single course when you look back at this course.  An additional part is that you will be able to determine the number of times during period, quarter or year, that single instructor was a lead or assistant.  Just think when it come time for the instructor to be re-certified by MSF you will have all the date/s at your fingertips.  Another excellent time this will come in to play is at the time when you will be making out 1099's for the instructor for Income Tax.  Your organization may pay a different pay scale for different positions, lead or assistant.

The section titled 'State Course Prevention Number' is something that is designed to keep the sequence number of the issued State of Oklahoma State Accident Prevention certificate.  This could be designed for something that you or the state that you work for is requiring.  Yes, we could customize this program for your particular needs.

The section titled 'Personal Observations' is just what it describes.  The personal observations of the insturctor/s concerning a single student.  An example could be '... will be getting a new LARGE bike next week and I think a smaller bike would be better since this person is very close to the ground.'  This is free form, meaning anything can be placed in this section.  It is something for you to remember that single student by in the future.

Now if you do not want to do anything and just want to return to the main menu just depress the EXIT to return to the main screen.  If you depress Do It one of the next two screens will appear.

This is to notify you for some reason the record was not added to the system.  Correct the Error and re-input the record at a later time period.  When you depress OK we will return to main screen.

This is to notify you that student was added to the system.  When you depress OK we will continue on.

Now that the record, student, was added to the Past Student Information System I will attempt to find that same person on the 'Phone Contacts Information System'.  I will use the following information that you just entered into the system:

• Last Name
• First Name
• City
• Type of Course

Remember when I look for an EXACT match everything must be exactly the same.  The four items that are used for this search are:

1. Last Name
2. First Name
3. City
4. Type of Course

Regardless of which one of the next four screen appears remember, that student was added to the Past Student Information System.  This is just designed to tell you that person was or was not found on the Phone Contact Information System.

One of Four

This is just a notification that the program was able to find an EXACT MATCH on the Phone Contacts Information System of the person you just entered in the system.  With that the automated process is completed and another past student was added to the 'Past Student Information System'.  With that completed we will return to the main screen when you depress OK.

Two of Four

This just a notification that the program failed to find an EXACT MATCH on the Phone Contacts Information System of the person you just entered in the system.  With that the automated process is completed and another past student was added to the 'Past Student Information System'.  With that completed we will return to the main screen when you depress OK.

Three of Four

This just a notification that the program found an EXACT MATCH on the Phone Contacts Information System of the person you just entered in the system.  But the person had taken the course before.

A reason this could happen could be he/she failed the course and just reenroll at a later date to take it again with no phone call.  With that the automated process is completed and another past student was added to the 'Past Student Information System'.  With that completed we will return to the main screen when you depress OK.

Four of Four

This just a notification that the program found an EXACT MATCH on the Phone Contacts Information System of the person you just entered in the system.  But the person had called concerning a different type of course then what they took.

They called last year about the course and asked about the beginner rider course (RSS).  You sent them the information about the course and logged them on the Phone Contact Information System.  This year they took the experienced rider course (ERC), you how have the way this could happen.  With that the automated process is completed and another past student was added to the 'Past Student Information System'.  With that completed we will return to the main screen when you depress OK.
