In the State of Oklahoma recently the law was changed concerning
Motorcycle Licensing Procedure. Effective
November 1, 1999, Department of Public Safety (DPS) will begin
waiving the riding skill portion
of the Motorcycle Licensing Procedure for any applicant
that completes a DPS approved Motorcycle
Driving School course requirements. The applicant
must show the completion card issued by the approved school and
additional information supplied by the school. The applicant
will still have to pass the normal
requirements as defined in the Motorcycle Licensing Procedures
published by DPS.
It is not a requirement to take a DPS approved Motorcycle Driving
School course to get your Motorcycle Endorsement, (M) placed on your
license. This is just an additional incentive to take a DPS approved
Motorcycle Driving School course, which will help you be better prepared
for driving on the roads. If you want to take the riding skills
portion of the motorcycle examination on
your bike you will still be able to do
that. Remember on your bike.
