Mike Fitch
Mike FitchI work for EDS as a system programmer. For the last 8 years I've been developing, implementing, and supporting plant floor applications in various GM assembly plants in the Metro Detroit area.
I joined DUG in 1992. This was during the exploration and mapping of the Chartes Maze and Penny Lane into what would soon be miles of passage under Northtown Ridge. This was also when 3, 4, and 5 day basecamp trips became the norm because of the difficulty and length of time needed to reach these areas from the Fisher Ridge entrance. I was able to participate in the discovery and mapping of such passages as: northern Northtown Avenue, the beginning and end of The Other Way, the northern Other World (very scary) and later the southern Other World and its connection into Northtown Thruway and discovery of the Lost Lagoon, beginning of Everready, Foreverready, and the Everready Continuation, Gleem Stream, Not Too Bad continuation out to the Giants Pass, Scream Way, Over the Top, connection of Other World and Chasm, discovery of the Rough Route, and LOTS of various mop-ups.
In 1998 I took over as editor/publisher of the grotto newsletter - DUG SCOOPS and shortly after that took over as the grotto treasurer. That same year I designed and created the website which I put online and have maintaining ever since. These duties keep me plenty busy and involved with the cave even though I don't get to go on trips as much as I would like.

The top picture was taken on my first trip to FRCS. I am ready to rappel the 40' pit into Remington entrance. The picture directly above is me 13 hours later after just making it back to field house. If you look close you can make out my lips mumbling something about NEVER doing THAT again.
