Part II: THE FRINGE

This earring will have 6 loops of fringe, each one hanging from two of the beads in the bottom row of the peyote cylinder.
Testing Your Fringe -- Read a few tips before getting started.
Each of your 6 strands of fringe will form a loop of 67 beads. My rule of thumb is to make the tassel fringe at least 1-1/2 times as long as the length of the peyote cylinder.
Cut about 1 yard of thread and thread your needle. Wax it, if desired, and keep the thread relaxed and untwisted.
- Weave the thread in through some of the beads in the peyote cylinder, going back and forth and up and down, leaving a short tail, which you'll trim later. Make sure the thread is securely fastened to the cylinder, and come out through a bead in the very last row.
- Pick up 6 W, 2 D, 2 M, 2 L, 2 Br, 2 L, 2 M, 2 D;
then 6 W, 2 D, 2 M, 2 L, 3 Br, 2 L, 2 M, 2 D;
6 W, 2 D, 2 M, 2 L, 2 Br, 2 L, 2 M, 2 D, and 6 W beads.
- Bring the needle through the next bottom bead, and pick up the beads for your second loop of fringe. Repeat this process four more times, until you have a total of 6 loops of fringe.
- Bring the needle through the first of the six bottom beads and up into the beads of the peyote cylinder. Weave the thread back and forth and up and down, making sure the last fringe is securely fastened, but not pulled too tightly.
Note:
There are lots of ways to hang the fringe! Check out my Variations page for more options.
