Toddler Dress

MATERIALS:
  - Bramwell’s 2/30 High Bulk (100% acrylic) 9240 yd / 17 oz (8450 m / 500 g) cones: 5 (6, 6, 7, 8) oz / 142 (170, 170, 198, 226) g
  - 3 (3, 3, 3, 4) 1/4” (0.64 cm) or 3/8” (1 cm) stem buttons
  - 1/4” (0.64 cm) ribbon - 60 (65, 70, 80, 90)” / 152 (165, 178, 203, 228) cm
  - Size C/2 (2.50 mm/UK12) crochet hook
MACHINE: Any 4.5 mm standard. Sample knit on a Knitking Five Star.
GAUGE: 24 sts and 40 rows = 4” (10 cm) with three strands.
TENSION: T6.2.
NOTE:
  1) Garment is knit using 3 strands MY.
  2) Two strands of a 2/24 yarn may be used instead.
  3) Several options for embellishment of dress are as follows: a) yoke with ribbon threaded through eyelets; b) yoke with Fairisle band (as shown) c) Christening Dress - e-wrap or crochet CO for body of dress, then K in lace patt using Stitch World 123; finish with eyelet yoke

BACK/FRONT

Make two. Hem: RC000. With 3-strands MY, CO EON over 109 (123, 131, 146, 159) ndls.T5.2, K1R, bring rem ndls to WP. K10 (10, 13, 16, 18)R. T9.2, K1R. Trans EON to form picot, leaving empty ndls in WP. RC000. T6.2, K12 (12, 15, 18, 20)R. Hang loops from CO edge on EON. T8.2, K1R. T6.2, K to RC100 (110, 120, 145, 160). Side Shaping: With 3-prong trans tool, FF dec 1 st both sides EOR 10 (11, 12, 13, 15)x. RC120 (132, 144, 175, 200). Trans to EON. Remove onto WY.

SLEEVES

Make two. Hem: RC000. With 3-strands MY, CO EON over 60 (60, 64, 68, 72) ndls. T5.2, K1R. Bring rem ndls to WP. K6 (6, 8, 10, 10)R. T8.2, K1R. Trans EON to form picot, leaving empty ndls in WP. RC000, T6.2, K8 (8, 10, 12, 12)R. Hang loops from CO edge on EON. T9.2, K1R. T6.2, K to RC010, (010, 014, 018, 020). With 3-prong tool, beg FF dec 1 st both sides EOR 10 (11, 12, 13, 15)x. RC030 (032, 038, 048, 060). Trans to EON. Remove onto WY. Block garment pieces.

YOKE

With wrong side facing and starting on far right side of machine, rehang the 2 sts per ndl that are already doubled from WY, doubling where sleeve joins front and back as follows: place one sleeve on right side of machine [approx at ndl R65 (R75, R75, R85, R85)], then hang back, then second sleeve, then front. T6.2, RC000, with 3-strands MY, K1R. Select Yoke detail from methods below. Yoke A: *Transfer EON for ribbon eyelet, K8R* Yoke B: 6 rows of Fairisle plus 2 rows st st may be substituted from * to * as per NOTE. ALL: T6.1, K8R. T6.0, K8R. T5.2, K1 (2, 2, 4, 6)R. Trans EON. Remove onto G-bar or WY. Rehang, 2 sts per ndl. Neck Band: T6.2, K7 (7, 7, 7, 9)R. T9.2, K1R. Trans EON. T5.2, K8 (8, 8, 8, 10)R. PU and hang first row of neck band. Sew off using double eye needle, e-wrapping every other gatepost.

FINISHING

Block yoke in a circle, laying band down flat. Sew sleeves to body. Sew front and back tog (Do not sew yoke closed). With crochet hook, sc 1 row around opening at yoke. Reverse sc 1 row, making chain sts for 3 (3, 3, 3, 4) evenly spaced buttonholes on front side. Sew 3 (3, 3, 3, 4) buttons on shoulder side of yoke to correspond to buttonholes. Thread ribbon through holes in yoke tying ends at bottom of yoke opening.
