It's been six months since Torrid and Monica last saw each other, and they have both changed a lot. Monica has grown into her own woman and has made some serious decisions about where she is going. Torrid is fighting her past and the ghosts that haunt her, trying to break free of the isolation she has put herself in. Dr. Drelica Truman goes west to the Rio Grande valley in the Big Bend to search for the fossil remains of a giant prehistoric Croc, along the way she is met with one disaster after another from gem smugglers who threaten to destroy millions of years of knowledge preserved in the fossil sites, and local officials and religious fanatics who want to stop the excavations and preserve the teachings of creationism. Meanwhile, Torrid comes home from Amsterdam to pick of the pieces and get on with her life. The trip away did her good, but she realizes she is severely burned out on her work and her life in general. Something is missing. She needs a break to heal, to reclaim, to find herself again. She decides to take a vacation, but where? See what happens when Fossil Fuel ignites! |

Drelica Truman is exhausted; the workload of her new appointment as head curator has taxed her to her limits. Overseeing her dig-site, and organizing the museum into an educational/teaching institute as well as a booming tourist attraction was no small feat. Torrid is burned out on her work; she doesn't enjoy pushing ink like she used to, when it was new and primal. She lost touch with the passion behind applying tattoos, and wants to quicken her dying creative spirit. She plans a trip to Hawaii to study Polynesian tattoos and application techniques, and asks Drelica to accompany her. Drelica ponders whether or not to go: With the tragic news of her sister's death, Drelica is ready for a break. Hawaii, Torrid, tropical paradise and active volcanoes...oh yeah!
