February Meeting
There were 18 people present at the Fun Night at the Brethren Church! We had a great turnout! Thanks for all those who attended and made the Fun
Night a success! We had our meeting, ate supper, talked, watched videos(after Connie showed us how to use the VCR) and had a good, all-around
fun time. Look for a similar Fun Night in May.
March Meeting
***IMPORTANT NOTICE***
The meeting will be a special one Mar 6th at Burdett's. Local author and kayak expert Steve Daniel will be the guest speaker and will discuss the
impact of the sale of Hidalgo Falls upon paddlers and others who used to use the Falls for entertainment. Please plan on attending the meeting
starting at 6pm. Spread the word to anyone you know who has been to the Falls in the past-access to the Falls will be very limited in the future. We
will also discuss our Club's responsibility, or function, in helping raise money for the group who purchased property at the site so paddlers will have
access. For more info call Gay 690-6630.

No matter how good you are, and no matter how well you know a river, the river is always in control. When paddling whitewater, it's important to give reverance to the awesome power of the river.
" Why do we paddle? Why do we take a canoe across a lake, sea kayak to a remote fiord, raft a desert canyon, or punch through whitewater in a kayak? Because there are certain things that matter in paddling, things that often go unsaid but that are at the very core of the sport. Things you appreciate without knowing why and things that rarely get the respect they deserve. A crackling campfire, a desert sunset, a perfect sweep stroke. No matter how trivial, it's these little things that keep us all coming back to our boats, day after day, year after year." -from "Paddler Magazine".
