The Chaimail Page

...or how to waste hours and hours and hours and hours
twisting and weaving wire....

No, this is NOT chainmail as in chain letters, this is chainmail as in an ancient (and still used today!) form of armor formed of small rings, butted, riveted, or welded, and linked together in patterns to form an armor that remains flexible, yet still able to protect against blades (not to mention the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune).

In modern times chainmail is worn by divers and those who use heavy machinary. But my interest flows more towards ancient...

Eventually I will have a tutorial up here, but for now, you'll have to settle for these other fine sites...

Sara's Chain Mail Armor Links - LOTs 'o links...
The Apprentice Armorer's Illustrated Handbook - a pretty good basic guide

Chainmail Construction, An electronic notebook -not yet finished, but shaping up to be a good one. Already has some good links.
Steve's Chainmail Page -also still underconstruction, also shaping up to be good, also with good links. His armory page has a listing of size and completion time of some chain pieces
