The Forging Page

...or beating up on innocent hot
metal for fun and profit...

Soon I'll post my experiences of learning to forge. Meanwhile, visit these sites:

Organizations

ABANA - the Artist-Blacksmith's Association Of North America, an nationwide organization with plenty of learning opportunities. Among other things, they host a fascinating mailing list called THEFORGE.
ArtMetal - All sorts of metalworking articles
American Bladesmith Society - a great organization, but their page is a little light on info.
FTP the metalworking FAQ from this site.

Personal/Corporate Sites

Bob Engnath - the god of grind. For those interested in stock removal, or using premade blade blanks.
The Knot - a cool site, with a few pictures and quite a few links.
Angel Sword - I've had the opportunity to speak to Daniel on a few occasions. He's a nice guy, and he and his apprentices make fine work, mostly with a fantasy touch.
Lytton Creek - another Texas (yee-hah! ;^) site with a few basic tutorials.
Starfire Swords, Ltd - I own a couple of their blades. Low end on the art side, but VERY durable and extremely well priced. Great down-and-dirty use swords!
Mike Spencer's page - articles and links.
Bru-Baker's Swords - a commercial site with lots of cool pictures.
Blades 'N' Stuff - for those of you that are into stock removal (grinding) or finishing premade blades, this is the place to go! Lots of good heat-treating info!
