The
creation of the Addup.org web site is a project of national significance
granted to the Oregon Institute on Disability and Development. This
is a 3-year grant with the first year focused on building an identity
and foundation for future growth.
Their
goal is to provide a central online resource for communication,
collaboration and innovation among programs across the ADD network
that provide services and solutions for people with developmental
disabilities. They are also developing partnerships centered on
data sharing to avoid duplication of effort, and ensure that the
data on addup.org is as complete and up-to-date as possible.
The
project kicked off with a series of interviews with various ADD
organizations to determine some of the communication challenges
facing the ADD network, and how a centralized web site could address
some of those needs. The main focus of the project is to serve the
interests of the disabled community by facilitating communication
and collaboration between the groups that serve them.
Moving
forward, the focus of the project will shift to enhancing the system
by raising the bar on web site accessibility for authors and visitors,
adding more content and more content providers by distributing passwords
and training people on how to update their data, and by integrating
the feedback of the people we are trying to serve.
Addup.org
is YOUR site. Hopefully it will make it easier for you to find out
what is going on within the ADD network, and foster collaboration.
As the site continues to mature, check back often.
