ADNOC Abu Dhabi Competition
In association with CRSS International.
Competition entry for a new corporate headquarters for the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company in Abu Dhabi.

The site lies at the end of a string of high rises lining the Abu Dhabi corniche. The tower rises above a series of exterior courts that form a diagonal connecting the two edges of the site. The open court, shadow court, and palm court, all speak to the traditions of Islamic and Bedouin culture. The tower is "wrapped" in a ribbon that connects a series of exterior terraces every six floors, spanning its thirty story height. The ribbon recalls the sailing tradition of Abu Dhabi, the importance of the "veil" to Islamic culture, and the ephemeral nature of Bedouin life. The ribbon is translucent and carries Islamic patterning inspired by the Topkapi Scroll, the lodestone of Islamic architectural patterning.
