European Furniture Showroom The project consists of converting a 3300 SF strip mall space into a showroom for Danish modular furniture. The design is prototypical and is the first installation in the United States. The project has a budget of approximately $30.00 per square foot (exclusive of MEP work) and duration of six weeks from design inception to construction completion. The solution consists of inserting a flexible system of lighting, color, movable walls, and frames into an existing space, transforming it without completely hiding the original light industrial character of the space. With a limited budget, the ability to use existing structure and materials is important. Flexibility is achieved at two levels. The ability to move walls and change color and lighting schemes provides a versatility of display within the space over time. By creating a series of recognizable components (frames, movable walls, and lighting grid), a degree of flexibility in designing stores in disparate spaces and conditions is maintained. |
