For those outside of Japan, these compact discs
are available for order from Tower
Records Japan. This link is for their page for international
customers. Unfortunately, this page is not automated. However,
there is a step-by-step process through which one must go in order to obtain
CDs. At the Tower international customers' site is a "shopping manual"
which walks the customer through the process of being registered with Tower
Records Japan, and gives instructions for ordering CDs. This process
takes about 15 minutes, but is well worth it. I have ordered these
discs from Tower Japan using this process, and each disc comes out to about
$18.00 U.S., with shipping and handling (based on currency exchange rates
for time at which these discs were ordered; Please ascertain currency
exchange rates of your own currency to Japanese Yen before finalizing order).
Special thanks to Mikito Ichikawa, publisher of "Fantastic Philadelphians," who kindly provided me with this information.

Update:
I have finally received the Ormandy Centenary edition from UPS (they arrived
by 2nd Day Air) and everything about them is first rate: The recordings
themselves were transferred from original masters, and the packaging is
beautiful: Original cover art work, accompanied by 100th anniversary
graphics. This is a set worthy of the Maestro. The only drawbacks
are that the liner notes are all in Japanese (not that the English-speaking
world has demonstrated their worthiness to the contrary, however) and that
these discs represent what Mikito Ichikawa calls "greatest hits."
I would have also preferred to see more pre-1942 recordings, including
Minneapolis Symphony releases, as well as post-1968 hard-to-find recordings,
such as Mahler's "Resurrection" Symphony and Dvorak's 8th, just to name
a couple. However, buy this set; it's truly top-drawer!
(Please excuse the lousy scan of the disc; it was the best I could
get).
