The Grosse Pointe Condotierre is the oldest active club in Michigan, founded first in Detroit in 1936. We have beginner, intermediate and advanced classes every five weeks, Labor Day through the beginning of summer. During July and August we have a shorter four-week class. Beginners learn foil fencing and are introduced to saber fencing in the last weeks of the session. In the advanced classes students can choose foil, epee or saber. We accept students staring at age 7.

Our classes meet twice a week, on Monday and Wednesday nights. There are introductory classes for first time fencers from 6:30 until 7:15. We have a class for intermediate and advanced fencers at 7:15 until 8:15. The beginner classes are for someone who has never had any fencing instruction. The intermediate class is for anyone with any experience above beginner.  Usually students take classes on both Monday and Wednesday nights for five weeks.  If there is a scheduling conflict the classes can be taken on either Monday or Wednesday for ten weeks.  There is a class for adults (18 and older) at 8:15 on Mondays along with open fencing.

During the summer our classes are on Wednesday night only and the sessions are shorter.

The classes are upstairs at the Neighborhood Club, 17150 Waterloo in Grosse Pointe. The directions are: take the Cadieux exit from I94, go south about three miles to Waterloo/Vernor (the street name changes at Cadieux) and turn left. The Neighborhood Club is two blocks on the right. We provide equipment; wear exercise clothing, sneakers and sweats.

There is no need to join the Neighborhood Club and you can show up the first night of class and register then. Our classes are a usually an even mix of children, adolescents and adults, often parents learning with a son or daughter. Class size on average is fifteen students and we offer private lessons.

Instructors: Jerzy Radz head coach Wayne State University, David Foley. Call 313- 823-8919 to register or e-mail.
