About the editor:
Paul T. Hlavinka is a 1973 graduate of Rice (Lovett College)
and a practicing attorney in Houston, specializing in estate planning, real estate and
international law. His journalistic credits include a stint as News Director of KTRU
Rice Radio in 1970-71, at which time he served on the station management committee which
took Rice campus radio from carrier-current to the airwaves. Later he worked as a
general assignments reporter and administrative assistant for the Houston Post
(1971-73). He obtained a master's degree in journalism from the University of Texas,
taking course work in the summers while attending law school there, and also served as a
teaching assistant in journalism (1974-77). He and his wife, Kim (a Vanderbilt alum) live
in Houston's Southampton neighborhood, where he also maintains offices at
2044 Bissonnet, beneath the shadows of the Rice Stadium goalposts.
