N. Central Exp & Mockingbird

There is another location right across the highway, but it's a toss-up whether this really qualifies as the second instance of multiple stores at the same intersection, because it is a major highway (U.S. 75) that has to be crossed, not just a street like at Preston and Park in Plano.

Anyhow, this store, besides employing some really cool baristas and "Ghost World" fans, has a couple of neat futures. The most noticeable is a stone column in the middle of the seating area. This column is square, but there is rounded column--half of it juts out from a wall. Interesting combination.

While one of the walls is covered by one of the corporate standard mural wallpaper, the design on another wall I've not seen anywhere else. It does appear corporate, however. Those insidious design people are getting better and better at making each of an ever increasing number of stores sport a unique feel. The tile pattern and carpeting at this store for example--I don't recall having seen either pattern before, although I'm not sure about the tiling.
