
You may need to do some exploring to find various rooms, although directions for some of them are given. The game is non-linear as some parts of it can be played in a different order than that which is given here. Don't be afraid to experiment as you can't do anything in the game that will prevent you from winning.
Begin as Bernard and go to clock in hall. Open the clock. Find the super-battery plans on the wall next to the hamster generator in the laboratory. Perform copy protection if you have the disk version of Day of the Tentacle.
Switch to Hoagie and take the plans to Red Edison (inside the clock in the hall). Go upstairs to the hall, then upstairs to the landing. Walk along corridor to the stairs and go up. Pick up the red paint in the attic. Return downstairs to the hall, then outside to the kumquat tree, which is near Chron-o-John. Paint (Use) the kumquat tree with the red paint. Return inside and go through the double doors in the hall. Go to the far window and talk to George Washington. You need to persuade him to cut down the "cherry tree" outside. Keep him going until your reach the "I bet you've lost it..." phrase. Use the phrase.
Change to Laverne and talk to the guard to persuade him to take you to the doctor. Wait until the doctor has left the room. Pick up the tentacle chart. Try to walk outside. Persuade the guard that you need the toilet. Give the tentacle plans to Hoagie.
Switch to Hoagie then walk upstairs to the room with the woman, who's sewing. Use the tentacle chart with the patterns.
Switch to Bernard and go to the hall and through the double doors. Go up the chimney and pick up the flag crank. Give the flag crank to Laverne.
Switch back to Laverne and walk to the building. Talk to the guard and persuade him that you need the see the doctor. Exit from the doctor's room and go through the door in the hall and into the room with the fireplace. Go up the chimney and use the crank on the crank box. Push the crank, the pick up the flag and use it.
Switch to Bernard and head down the chimney. Go upstairs to the Green Tentacle's room. Push the on/off button on the stereo. Push the speaker in the middle of the room. Get the video from the stereo. Again push the stereo on/off button and go downstairs. Pick up the fake barf and give it to Laverne. Now switch to Laverne and go down the chimney. Talk to tentacle guard next to the fireplace. Get a label from him. Go upstairs to the 60's room with the mummy and get the extension cord. Pick up the roller-skates from the sideboard and place them on the mummy. Push the mummy and go downstairs. Use the tag on the mummy, then give the scalpel to Bernard. Go upstairs and switch to Hoagie.
Walk through the double doors in hall, then the swinging door into the kitchen. Pick up the spaghetti and oil from the shelves. Give the spaghetti to Laverne. Switch to Bernard and walk to the kitchen (i.e. through the double doors from the hall, then through the swinging door). Pick up the fork and give it to Laverne. Go through the swinging door and pop the clown with the scalpel. Pick up the laughing-box and give it to Laverne. Give the text book to Hoagie.
Switch to Laverne and go upstairs and down the corridor to the competition area. Place the laughing box on the mummy. Place the spaghetti on the mummy's head, and arrange it with the fork. Switch to Hoagie and read the text book to the horse, that's upstairs in the corridor. Pick up the horse's teeth and give them to Laverne.
Switch to Laverne and use the horse's teeth on the mummy. Use the fake barf with the contestant sitting next to the door. Talk to Harold. Talk to the judges in the judging area with Laverne, and ask them to judge the three competitions in turn. Go downstairs to the kennel and give the dinner certificate to the human guard. Switch to Bernard and go to the hall and then into the office. Open the drawer and take the Booboo-b-gone. Give it to Laverne.
Switch to Laverne and go outside. Paint the fence, near the cat, white with Booboo-be-gone. Switch to Hoagie and go up to the attic. Use Ned's bed. Use the squeaky mattress with the other bed. Use Jed's bed, then quickly pick up the squeaky mouse toy. Give the toy to Laverne. Switch to Laverne and use the extension cord with the Chron-o-John. Use the extension cord with the window. Use the toy with the cat. Go to the human room and turn off the switch. Use the cat and go to the secret laboratory in the clock. Plug in the extension lead to the hamster generator.
Switch to Bernard and go along the corridor upstairs, on right to Weird Ed Edison's Room. Pick up the hamster. Go to the sleeping man's room, which is also upstairs. Close the door and pick the keys up from behind the door. Give them to the person trying to break into the car outside. Get the dime that's stuck in the gum in hall using the crowbar. Use the gum with the dime stuck in it. Pick up the dime from the telephone. Now use the crowbar on the candy machine (upstairs). Pick the coins up from the floor. Place both dimes in the coin slot in the sleeping man's room. Pick up the sweater and use it in the washing machine downstairs (through the double doors and through the kitchen). Use the heap of coins on the washing machine. Place the hamster in the ice box upstairs on landing. Close the ice box.
Switch to Laverne and look in the ice box. Pick up the hamster from the ice box and pick up the sweater from the washing machine. Put the hamster in the microwave in the kitchen. Put the sweater on the hamster. Use the hamster on the hamster generator inside the secret laboratory in the clock. Switch to Hoagie and pick up the letter from the postal box outside. Give it to Bernard. Switch to Bernard and give the letter to the depressed man upstairs. Pick up the flag gun and the disappearing ink. Go downstairs and use the flag gun with the novelty salesman's gun. Open the grating and talk to the cigar salesman to get a cigar. Pick up the teeth. Chase them to the grating. If they get stuck in a corner, wait for them to move a bit. Pick up the teeth and give them to Hoagie. Give the cigar and cigar lighter to Hoagie.
Switch to Hoagie go through the double doors, by the window, and give the cigar and chattering teeth to George Washington. Go upstairs and through attic window and pick up the blanket from the floor and put it over the chimney. Go to the upstairs room with the kite plans and pick up the bottle of wine. Return to the room where you started the fire and pick up the gold pen. Walk to the door, then back into the room. Give the bottle to Thomas Jefferson. Give the can opener to Laverne.
Switch to Laverne and go upstairs to the old room. Open the can with the opener and extract the vinegar. Give the vinegar to Hoagie. Switch to Hoagie and give the oil, gold, and vinegar to Red Edison, who's in the secret laboratory in the clock. Pick up the battery and then get the bucket from the pantry. Get the brush from the cupboard in the pantry, and fill it from the pump in the kitchen. Now go upstairs to George Washington's room and use the bed. Pull the cord and quickly go outside. Pick up the soap from the maid's trolley (again quickly). Use the soap with the bucket of water. Go outside and use the bucket of water with the wagon.
Switch to Bernard and pick up the "help wanted" sign in the hall. Give the sign to Hoagie. Switch to Hoagie and give the sign to Red Edison. Pick up the Lab Coat and give it to Ben Franklin, who's in the kite room. Use the super battery with the kite. Push the kite when it says "now". Pick up the super battery and use it with the Chron-o-John plug. Pick up Red Edison's hammer, which is in the secret lab. Use the left handed hammer with the right handed hammer in the (upstairs) room with people sculpturing when the hammer is not being used. Give the red paint to Bernard.
Switch to Bernard and push the nurse in the (upstairs) control room. Use the video with the VCR. Press the stop button. Pick up the coffee jugs from the kitchen. Go to the secret laboratory (in the clock) and pour the decaffeinated coffee into the professor's mug. Go upstairs to the control room and use the VCR. Rewind the video. Switch to short play, then press record. When Dr. Fred has been taken away, rewind the video. Click on long play and play the video. Press stop, then go downstairs and open the safe in the office with the combination. Pick up the contract and go upstairs to Weird Ed's Room, then use the disappearing ink with the stamp book. Pick up the stamp book and stamp from the corridor. Give the stamp book back to Ed. Go up the chimney and into the room where Dr. Fred is being held. Pick up the rope from Dr. Fred. Go out on the roof and use the rope with the pulley, which is by the window. Outside, tie the rope to the mummy statue, that's outside the door. Go onto the roof via the chimney, and pull the rope. Enter the attic via the chimney. Paint the mummy red using the red paint. Use Dr. Fred with the mummy. Tie the rope to Dr Fred. Get up on the roof and pull the rope. Take the funnel from the laundry cabinet in the washing machine room. Use the funnel with Dr. Fred. Use the regular coffee with the funnel. Talk to Dr. Fred and ask him to sign the contract. Talk to Dr. Fred and say that YOU can save the world on your own. Talk to Dr. Fred, say that YOU need a doctor's note. Give the signed contract and the stamp to Hoagie.
Switch to Hoagie and use the stamp with the contract. Use the contract with the outside letter box. Switch to Bernard and go to the T.V. in the sleeping man's room and use it. Go to Dr. Fred's office and pick up the bank book, that's on the desk. Use the telephone in Dr. Fred's office to buy a diamond. Pick up the flyer about the vacuum cleaners in the hall. Give the flyer to Hoagie. Switch to Hoagie and put the flyer in the suggestion box in the room through the double doors. Switch to Laverne and go to the secret laboratory inside the clock. Use the vacuum cleaner with the mouse hole. Open the hatch in the vacuum cleaner and pick up the dust ball. Use the hamster with the hamster generator. Everyone should now walk into the corridor. Open the second door along the corridor, which is Dwayne's room. Quickly enter and walk into the mouse hole. Wait to become big. Pick up the bowling ball (i.e. the model of the world). Open the door and exit. Walk down the stairs and into the secret laboratory. Use the bowling ball with the Purple Tentacles. Persuade the Purple Tentacle to hit Doctor Fred with the ray gun.
