Alice Graham. Mrs. Alice Gowdy was a victom of the Archer Home in South Windsor, Connecticut, who died 4 Dec 1914. It was on the occasion of her death that the investigation began which resulted in the conviction of the matron of Archer Home, Amey Archer Gilligan, who was sentenced to be humg at the Connecticut State Prison on 16 Nov 1917. She was one of six victoms of arsenic poisoning, the motive for which is obvious when the system by which the institution was managed is known. These two old people, Lorin Gowdy and wife, paid one thousand dollars to the Home for their care during the remainder of their lives, the same as the other clients had done. Mr. Gowdy was also poisoned, but it did not prove fatal. She died on 4 December 1914 in South Windsor, Connecticut.1
