Issue #4 April 2000Welcome to the newest issue of Redoubt. No, we haven't gone quarterly. We've just been short staffed. I'd like to welcome new writers, Geoffrey McStroul and Marc Sparks (no relation to Jenny) to the fold. We're still soliciting new people. By the way, this issue, we have an interview with a man who's becoming my favorite writer in all of comics Jeph Loeb. Not only is he a nice guy, but he just might be the best writer in mainstream superhero comics. Also, we are going to start some new sections. We're actually printing reader responses, and we're going to start a new section devoted to the aspiring comics professional. So, enjoy, and tell us what you think about the new Redoubt. |

Jeph Loeb, the writer of Superman and Batman: Dark Victory among other things, tells us why we need fan optimism to keep the industry afloat. While you're looking at that, look at the archives where we talk to Erik Larsen, Peter David, and Marv Wolfman. Keeping on the subject of keeping the industry going, Jason Peters of C.O.M.I.C. talks to us about his mission to expand the comics reader base, and Dennis Wilson tells us why we should hope that the comics industry will start to produce romance comics again. This issue we start a new feature called Comics Hopefuls. In our first edition, I translate the rules that Marvel and DC want you to follow when you want to send them your story ideas. Of course we have our usual reviews of recent, and not so recent comics. Rick Johnson also gives us his opinions on some recent offerings. We also have your comments on our humble e-zine. I hope you enjoy our new sections. Please tell us what you would like to see. Ramsey |
