Here's a story from Lee to kick things off...
My First Year With
Reiki
Reiki
found me in the last weeks of November 1990. A strange
"urge" hit me to go to a large metaphysical
gathering that I had read about in the newspaper.
I was working weekends as a hayride driver at my father's
Christmas Tree Farm and it was peak Christmas Season.
After making endless excuses I was able to skip out
of work on a busy Sunday afternoon. With kids in tow,
I drove an hour to Austin to sneak a peek at a metaphysical
exhibition.
I
rushed around the coliseum going booth to booth. I
knew I had to be there, but I didn't know why. I even
had a physic literally approach me to tell me I was
going to have another baby and it was going to be
a boy. After politely edging off, I remember praying
" No Thanks, Not Now". Eventually I signed
up for three mailing lists and left feeling unfulfilled
with the knawing that I had to get back to work at
the farm.
By
Wednesday via the mail, I received the flyer that
changed my life. It was all about Reiki. I did not
know what "Reiki" was or anything about
"energy". As I meticulously read through
the flyer, the excitement built. I knew Reiki was
calling me. I was going to be a Master!
My
first obstacle was the money: $150 was obtainable,
$500 was unobtainable and $10,000 was i n my w i l
d e s t d r e a m s ! I was crushed that the Masters
was so out of my reach, but was still determined to
take the first class . I was able to get extra hours
at work for the first class price. It was two weeks
away, mid December. Then the strangest phenomena happened
to me the minute I mailed off the check. My hands,
in the middle of my palms, started buzzing and tingling
nonstop. I spent the next week looking at both of
my hands in amazement.
The
week before the class I had an incredibly vivid dream.
I was walking in a mountain landscape with everything
looking exactly like a Oriental painting....the trees,
the sky, the dirt path. Then I slid down a steeper
dirt path similar to going down a slide. Splash! Right
into a river of milk-colored water. Then I was astride
a giant fish whose scales were elegant and white.
I rode the fish successfully, even though it tried
to throw me . The dream left such a strong impression...that
I shared it with a counselor in the class. She smiled
at me and said, "Yes, you were definitely meant
to be here!"
The
Reiki I class was wonderful, although I cried through
all three days! I went through many emotions that
I had stuffed for years. I laughed, I cried, I steamed,
I cried, I processed, I cried, I observed, and I learned
many things I had never before experienced .
I
felt odd at the attunements. Sitting with two other
strangers in a dim room with my eyes closed and my
hands in a praying position. Praying for exactly what?
My mind raced. I wondered what I had gotten my self
into now. Then a overwhelming feeling of being suctioned
into my chair hit me. The energy first flowing through
my chakra's made a memorable moment, one that I have
experienced rarely so strong again. My Master even
said that my earrings were dancing in the air so wildly,
that she just stopped and watched them for a moment.
At
lunch we were encouraged to stuff ourselves. After
all lunch was a treat on the house, so we needed to
treat ourselves. Not an ideal I was brought up with!
We all ate a big meal, dessert and even drank a Cappuccino.
My only thought as we walked back to the class was
on how I was going to keep awake after overeating
so much. Once back, the lights were dimmed. We were
asked to lie down and to Reiki our stomachs for twenty
minutes. I only hoped I didn't snore.
When
the twenty minutes pasted, I was still awake, and
even refreshed! My stomach felt light. It didn't ache
like before. My Master disclosed that it was her intention
to show us how well the Reiki worked for digestion.
The
other class participants kept me in a constant state
of wonder. Everyone was from a different place in
life, yet I could see the benefit that all their positions
held. A school teacher, a physical therapist, an automobile
detail shop manager, a massage therapist, a computer
programmer: each in a place to touch many lives.
At
the end of the class I could see auras. It was hard
to decide which to play with first, the buzzing in
my hands or to sit and look at everyone's "color".
During
the Reiki I class, I vowed to take the next Reiki
II class, 60 days away. The class date was with in
three days of my birthday; another sure sign. I had
no resources to raise $500, yet I begged my Master
to allow me to take the class. The Reiki II class
was occurring before her 90 day waiting period, so
I had to promise to use my Reiki energy for one hour
every day for the next 60 days.
The
next "synchronicity" that occurred really
made me believe in "no accidents". I received
a $500 bonus for Christmas! I immediately took the
money to my safety deposit box and locked it up until
it was time to send in my class deposit. The evening
I paid my deposit, as I was literally getting the
cash out of my wallet, my hands started the nonstop
buzzing again and did not stop until the Reiki II
class.
The
Reiki II class was much smaller. I looked forward
to "grabbing" the Master's ear to ask her
the millions of questions that had developed in the
last 60 days. I had done as she asked and then some.
Every day I drove an hour each way to work. Great
Reiki time. I used Reiki on a plant at work during
my quite evening hours. I used Reiki on my children
each day. I even used Reiki on Dad's Christmas trees!
The
class met on Monday evening. We were instructed on
the sacredness of the three symbols. Then we were
introduced to them and learned a brief description
about their uses. When we left that evening we were
allowed to take a copy of the three symbols to practice
and to process. My Master suggested to sleep with
the symbols under our pillows.
Starting
that night I had the same reoccurring dream. I was
flying as part of an Air Force Fighter Squadron in
the Pacific during World War II. Hour after hour I
spent in dogfights flying over different islands.
The ringing of the guns was loud and ominous as I
shot down Japanese Zeros. By Thursday night things
had changed and my luck had gone bad. I was shot down
near the coast of an island. I made it ashore only
to be met by hundreds of Japanese soldiers. As I ran
across the beach to the rocks and jungle, I was shot
innumerable times in one brief moment. I fell with
my face on the sand, and looked over to see the staring
soldiers. In a fleeting instant, I was one with the
earth. No war, no soldiers, I was home. My body could
no longer be felt. There was no pain, just freedom.
I melted into the soil and slowly floated down the
slope of earth toward a stream. The sun was warm.
The ocean's breeze refreshed me. I floated into the
cool stream, and was gently carried down to a soft
grassy meadow. I was contented. The dream has always
stayed with me. It wasn't until later that I realized
that I had experienced a past life. I lived, I died,
and it was beautiful. There had been no fear of death,
only freedom and exultation.
The
Reiki II attunement was just as incredible as Reiki
I's. As my Master worked with my hands, they quickly
heated . The energy between my hands pulsated them
apart. An area of discomfort throbbed in my right
hand. When the attunement was over for my group, I
went to sit silently by myself to process the attunement,
and to investigate this new "discomfort".
What I found was a thick red ring nearly the diameter
of a dime underneath the base of my ring finger at
the top of my palm. When the Master finished the last
group of attunements, she walked straight over to
me and asked to see my hand. She studied the ring,
asked some questions, but had no idea how to answer
my inquiries. That night I had a fitful sleep. My hand
pulsated and hurt enough to keep me awake. The bizarre
thing was that every time I looked at my hand, the
ring was in a different location! By class time the
next morning, the ring was located at the base of
my palm directly below my pinkie finger. (To this
day the ring will appear pulsating with the same discomfort
after an especially strong attunement.)
I
finished my Reiki II instruction on Sunday afternoon
and arrived back on the Christmas Tree Farm just in
time to Reiki all the seedlings of replacement trees
being planted. I was excited to have such a wonderful
opportunity. My father and his workers were much less
thrilled. They thought the work I was doing at the
psychiatric hospital "seemed to be taking a toll."
My
mother was in Tucson, Arizona that weekend. I called
her and set up my first long distant healing. She
was suffering from a sinus headache, and I knew just
the thing for her. We agreed on a time. I told her
just to lay down and relax. I began the session, being
careful to be exact in my intent. The time was painfully
slow for me. I tried to concentrate, but all I wanted
was to phone and ask, "What do you feel?"
I
used the Reiki for twenty minutes, satisfied that
I had not only felt wonderful things, but that she
had to of felt it too. Calling her....I found that
I couldn't get a word in. She was excited. The headache
was gone. She had seen balls of colored lights race
across the ceiling! Hooked! Now there were two believers
in the family!
As Reiki is a process.....So is
this story! To be continued...

REIKI In Children's Eyes
As adults, we are always looking for the
perfect words to describe to explain something.
Usually, we get quite longwinded just
trying to get to the point. Children,
on the other hand, have a simple explanation
of life, if we would just learn to listen
to them.
For example, take explaining "Reiki"
to some new inquiring person: I will go
into "spiritually guided life force
energy", "electromagnetic energy
fields", "chakras and auras",
"meridian lines", and even explanations
on "negative psychic energy blocks".
Just enough to get that bug-eyed, over-informed
look on someones face.
My daughter,
Allisia, has taught me just how easy it
is to explain "Reiki".
One evening after
a class, Allisia, then six years old,
had not been feeling well. Her sister,
Allison, and I decided to give her a Reiki
session. After about 10 minutes of Reiki,
I asked her if she felt the energy. Without
a second of hesitation, a big smile came
over her face and she said, "Oh yes
Mommy! I feel the Goodness!"
Well........its
a short beginning!
Always Love,
