The Time Module

The Time module provides the capability to capture attendance information and absence data by employee, displays attendance status by department for the supervisor, provides for interdepartmental employee "loans" and provides, under appropriate security, the capability to verify and correct employee "time card" data prior to transmission to payroll.

Utilizing a bar coded employee badge, the employee clocks in by scanning the badge with a bar code reader or by passing the badge through a slot scanner. The system verifies employee number and scheduled shift from the employee record and associated shift record. The time of clock-in is recorded with consideration given to user definable "grace periods". Scheduled absences with user definable reason codes are maintained by the system. Scheduled lunch and break times are maintained in the system and labor clockings and reported time is automatically adjusted if desired. Overtime offered, accepted, and worked is accumulated by the system.

There are four groups of functions within the Time module. The first group includes the basic clocking transactions which are used to identify to the system employees, occupations, clocking points for each employee, departments and teams or groups and department groups. The manual and automatic clocking transactions, and the display of clocking transactions, also are part of this group of functions. The second group of transactions enables the definition of the shifts and the actual working hours of each shift. The capability to define authorized variations, that is, variations to employees' usual working hours, and the facility to assign authorized variations to individual employees, also are in this functional group.

A third group of functions, the labor reporting functions, allow criteria to be established to determine which individuals may perform each task. Skill requirements are defined by the user for each task, and skill levels are identified for each employee. The actual reporting of start and end times for each labor event is included in this group of functions as are several inquiry transactions based on labor data collected. Since all data are available on-line, labor data can be reviewed and corrected by foremen prior to transfer to an accounting or payroll system. A fourth group of functions operate invisible to the user. These functions are used to monitor and optimize disc space utilization.

Labor reporting is closely integrated with the Tracking module and operation clock-on and clock-off labor data collection is an integral part of the tracking process. Employees may record indirect and direct time. The labor resource data becomes a part of the archived traceability record that is captured for each individual product or lot.
