Titanic has a set of the largest reciprocating engines ever constructed. They stood 35 feet (10.7 meters) tall, were 63 feet (19.2 meters) long, and weighed some 600 tons each. The engine bed plate alone was 195 tons and the columns to the cylinders were 21 tons each.
At 75rpm, the engines could generate 15,000 HP. They took in steam at 215 lbs pressure and exhausted it 9 lb. The cylinder sizes for the high, medium and low pressure cylinders were 54", 84", 97" (137, 213, 246cm) respectively.
The lead low pressure cylinder on each engine was sheered off during the breakup, leaving both high pressure cylinders exposed at the fore end of the stern.
The model engines have nearly 90 parts each and feature all the pistons, lifters, and crankshaft, even though they're only 1.5" (4cm) long. <OK, so I went a little overboard.>
