anthropologist, I have sought to build bridges between these remote, vulnerable
refugees and existing NGOs, like the Red Cross and the Cambodian Mine Action
Center (CMAC). For four years I have teamed with a Battambang-based
aid agency, Saboras, whose mission is to empower the
poor, especially orphans, widows, children, and the handicapped. Together we
have established several ongoing projects, such as the
