KENTRONICS KMT1780L-57X
DESCRIPTIONModel 1700 LCD Traffic Signal Controller unit is a dual MC68B09 micro-based unit that is digitally timed, fully actuated NEMA Traffic Signal Controller. It is designed to meet the requirements of NEMA Standard TSI-1989, and exceeds the NEMA requirements for conventional intersection control. Capable of both independent, interconnected and system operation, the Model 1700 LCD can be implemented either internally or externally for coordination and communications. The controller can be operated in any configuration from two to eight phases, timing in one or two rings, with up to eight barriers with up to three consecutive phases crossing in selectable or variable phasing. The Model 1700 LCD is functionally modular, with separate circuit boards for power, input/ output, control and display. Self-diagnostic capabilities are also included. Several expansion options for the Model 1700 LCD are available, most are implemented through the simple addition or replacement of EPROM memory either on the controller CPU or on the display CPU. This modular construction feature simplifies installation, testing, maintenance and repair. The result is enhanced operating reliability in all environments. APPLICATIONSDue to the flexibility of its 8-bit microprocessors and dual memory, the Model 1700 LCD can operate in a number of software configurations through CPU jumper selection. These include coordination, preemption and 3/4/6 phase diamond operation, all with volume density and in closed loop operation. FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONIn the Model 1700 LCD, one of the advanced 8-bit microprocessors control all the logic and timing functions of the system. This is exercised through I/O interfaces connected to the traffic (calling and system) detectors, signaling devices and communications. The other controls all user interface (keyboard input and display). The operation of both microprocessors and support hardware is controlled by an instruction set located in permanent memory (EPROM). The various standard and optional functions are programmed through keyboard "Menu" entries. This provides the Model 1700 LCD with an unusually high degree of flexibility and expandability. The NEMA I/O and system timing is self-monitoring through a "watchdog" monitoring circuit. This circuit checks for proper microprocessor operations, logic voltages and power failure. If a problem is detected, the "watchdog" places the intersection in a flash condition. The "Backlit" LCD 40 column by 16 line "Super Twist" screen is rated to NEMA temperature standards with a ten year warranty. Programming is done through "User Friendly" "MenuDriven" selections. Additional control is provided by a second 8-bit microprocessor and instruction set contain in memory resident EPROM. This arrangement allows for future development of advanced diagnostics and system monitoring. Two through eight traffic phases can be defined and order sequence assigned through keyboard entry. Input / output circuits condition the microprocessor's internal logic levels to NEMA standards. Operator programming for startup, internal overlaps, coordination, preemption and other special operations are provided. Closed Loop operation firmware is standard in all controllers.
