KENTRONICS KMT1880L TS-1 / TS-2
DESCRIPTIONThe Model 1800 LCD Traffic Signal Controller unit is digitally timed, fully actuated, and provides NEMA TS-1 and TS-2 compatibility plus many advanced features not found in any other traffic controller. The Model 1800 is fully downward compatible with it's predecessor the KMT 1700. It is designed with the same easy to program interface with menus and context-sensitive help shown on a 16-line by 40-character screen. This type of displaying method allows for full viewing of all phase parameters on one screen without the need of scrolling data up & down as in a limited four line display. It also allows for graphic display of a standard intersection geometrically. APPLICATIONSCapable of both independent, interconnected and system operation, the Model 1800 LCD can be implemented either internally or externally for coordination and communications. Four data ports are provided for system operation and interrogation of third party monitoring devices. The controller can be operated in any configuration from two to twelve phases with timing in one or two rings with up to eight barriers. Diamond Operation (3-4-6 phase), Sequential, Quad / Sequential or Selectable / Variable Phasing with up to three consecutive phases crossing, are all included without software EPROM change. FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONThe Model 1800 LCD is functionally modular, with separate circuit boards for power, input/output, communications, control and display. All timing functions are based on the power supply 60hz reference with advanced clock circuitry for extended down-time reference. Self-diagnostic capabilities are also included. System communications are accomplished through standard non-proprietary 400 style modems available through an assortment of vendors. The modular construction of the Model 1800 simplifies installation, testing, maintenance and repair. The result is enhanced operating reliability in all environments. In the Model 1800 LCD, the operation of the enhanced microprocessor and support hardware is controlled by an instruction set located in permanent memory (EPROM). The various standard and optional functions are programmed through keyboard "Menu" entries. This provides the Model 1800 LCD with an unusually high degree of flexibility and expandability. The NEMA I/O and system timing is self-monitoring through a "watchdog" monitoring circuit. This circuit checks for proper microprocessor operations, logic voltages and power failure. If a problem is detected, the "watchdog" places the intersection in a flash condition and attempts to re-boot the intersection. This is very beneficial in the case of power glitches and cuts down on un-necessary service calls. The Model 1800 LCD can operate in a number of software configurations through CPU jumper selection. These include 120 multi-patterned coordination plans, 6 timed preemption groupings, 20 variable / multi-barrier phasing sequences, and 3/4/6 Phase Diamond operation, all with volume density and in closed loop operation. The "Backlit" LCD 40 column by 16 line "Super Twist" screen is rated to NEMA temperature standards with a ten year warranty. Programming is done through "User Friendly" "Menu Driven" selections.
