About Our Council
The Girl Scouts of the San Antonio Area (GSSAA) serves more than 17,000 girls and 4,000 adults in over 950 troops within the council's eight-county jurisdiction. Girls are served in Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Frio, Kendall, Kerr, Medina, and Wilson counties. GSSAA was chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), in 1924.

To get to the Council Office, from downtown take Hwy 281 North and exit at Isom Road. Turn right on Isom, then left at the first street, Gulfdale. The Council Office is in the second long building on the left.


Volunteering
Volunteers are a very important part of Girl Scouting! Positions as troop leaders, assistant troop leaders, and many other volunteer positions are available. Many short-term positions are also available, such as troop cookie managers, SHARE leaders and volunteers to assist with field trips. Training is provided for most positions. The Five Levels Of Girl Scouting
  • Daisy Girl Scouts-ages 5 and 6 or in Kindergarten through 1st grade
  • Brownie Girl Scouts- ages 6, 7 and 8 or in grades 1 through 3
  • Junior Girl Scouts - ages 8, 9, 10 and 11 or in grades 3 through 6
  • Cadette Girl Scouts - ages 11, 12, 13 and 14 or in grades 6 through 9
  • Senior Girl Scouts - ages 14, 15, 16 and 17 or in grades 9 through 12
