About the Austin Civic Wind Ensemble

Created in 1975, the Austin Civic Wind Ensemble (ACWE) is a community ensemble formed of both amateur and professional musicians. The mission of the band is twofold: to provide an ensemble for Austin area musicians who want to pursue music performance as a hobby, and to bring public performances of great concert band literature to the Austin Area.

The ensemble has a diverse membership, averaging around 60 musicians -- from high school students to college professors, software engineers, composers and band directors. We're a lively group whose common link is a love of music, community and performance.

ACWE rehearses every Tuesday from 7:30 - 9:30 at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 1100 West 45th Street, and holds approximately nine concerts a year.

The annual dues are $24 for adults and $12 for students. Dues go toward new music, promotion and instrument purchase/repair. All dues are tax-deductible.

If you are not a player but are looking for a great live concert experience, feel free to join us at one of our regular performances. Check out our upcoming
