Rick Glascock, received a Masters Degree from the State University of New York at StonyBrook where he studied percussion and conducting and directed the StonyBrook Contemporary Chamber Players. The position as principal percussionist with the Filarmonica de Jalisco brought Mr. Glascock to Guadalara, Mexico where he founded and directed a successful chamber music ensemble, performing such works as Stravinksy's "The Soldier's Tale" and Copland's "Appalachian Spring" . At the same time he was active in the local jazz scene as a composer, arranger, vibraphonist and drummer.
Mr. Glascock moved to Austin, TX in 1993 and has been an active music educator in the area. He has two original works for band "Mulanje" and "Tres Pasitos" published by Avalon Press. He became musical director of the Austin Civic Wind Ensemble in 1997. Under his direction the group has seen a steady growth in personnel and a renewed commitment to the performance of challenging and exciting works for the symphonic band.
