Interesting 1968 & 1969 GS Facts

1968 GS 350:

The year 1968 witnessed several changes in the small block GS. The most visiable was the new A-body styling change. The long sleek lines of the '67 model were traded for a slightly taller and more muscular styling. The other major change to the small block GS was an increase of 10ci in the engine displacement from 340ci to 350ci. The new power plant produced 280 horses with 375ft-lb of torque at 3200rpm. The increase in power came about as a result of fitting the intake and exhaust manifolds from the 430ci powerplant. These changes oddly enough came about due to efforts to decrease emissions.

1968 GS 400:

The GS 400 model experinced the same body restyling but little change was made to the powerplant. The 400ci large block was rated at 340hp at 5000rpm.
