I have been involved with children's sports activities for several years, as a parent, coach and league board member. A few years ago our local girl's softball association purchased a software program for scheduling league games. The resulting schedules turned out to be atrocious. It might have a DeSoto team hosting a Duncanville team on a Cedar Hill field. Needless to say that wouldn't do. Our poor vice president was left with the unenviable task of cleaning up the scheduling mess before league play could begin. Obviously, something had to be done.
I began in early 1993 developing PLAYBALL! to address the specific needs of our inter-city girl's softball league. I also kept in mind the needs of our other local youth and adult sports programs. The resulting program has been used across the nation by a myriad of sports programs (softball, baseball, soccer, basketball, men's semi-pro baseball, single city leagues, multi-city leagues, leagues with multiple divisions, you get the idea).
