Welcome to the Unofficial Oakland Activities Association Sports Information Site

This site unofficially tracks scores and standings for boys soccer and girls softball. Prior to the 2009-10 school year, I would track all of Oakland County. Now, I am focusing exclusively on the Oakland Activities Association (OAA). Teams are rated using the Wilson Performance Rating as the primary computer rating system. I also use the late David Rothman's FACT system as a secondary rating system.

How the Wilson Performance Rating System works: A team's rating is the average of its opponents' plus 100 for a win or minus 100 for a loss. Wins that lower the rating and losses that raise the rating count one twentieth as much as the other games. Post-season games count double. These ratings are in the public domain and may be freely published.  A full explanation of the system is available on the links page.

The FACT Rating System: FACT considers the margin of victory, up to a point where each additional point/score adds no value (this is to deter running up the score for the rating's sake). Teams are then mapped to points a logistic curve based on who they have defeated and their final scores.
