Our Schools

Our 16,000 school age children are educated in the Community Consolidated School District 15, consisting of 14 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and one combined campus.  Palatine's two high schools, Palatine High School and Fremd High School, are part of Township High School District 211.  Well over half the teachers have their Master's degree and have taught for more than 10 years.  Palatine is also home to the private Quest Academy, one Lutheran and two Catholic elementary schools, The Center for Special Education and Little City residential school for the physically and mentally challenged.

Post-high school educational careers can be continued at William Rainey Harper College, a community college, and satellite campuses of Northern Illinois University, Roosevelt University, and National-Louis University.  Numerous private and public college and universities are located within an hour of Palatine.

Residents can visit our 96,000 square foot public library and borrow the 240,000 books and 30,000 audiovisual selections.  They have access to over 1,500 magazines and newspapers as well as CD-ROM databases and the Internet.  Palatine Public Library hosts special programs for children and adults, and offers showcases and meeting rooms for public use.

The DNAK German organization, the Scandinavian Club, the Ukrainian St. Nectarios Church, and Santa Teresita Hispanic Congregation, the Asian Community and the Sikh Temple all promote and celebrate their heritage here in Palatine.
