We are in the beautiful new Fine Arts Center. The auditorium seats up to 784 people. There are seats that may be removed to allow for the disabled. The sound system will rattle the seats. It has a Mackey console. The lighting system is great with 20 ellipsoidal house spots, red-green-amber-blue strips, a heap of fresnels and scoops plus it is capable of numerous special effects. The control for it is computerized and by Strand. The orchestra pit is about 8 or 9 feet deep but has a cover that looks like the rest of the stage. (For an interesting story - ask the Star Telegram reporter about just how deep it really is!) The lobby is an open design with glass exterior walls and decorated with choir, band, and theatre awards. The latest awards are the Theater Department's State UIL OAP award, the Band's UIL 4-A State Honor Band award, and the Choir's UIL Sweepstakes award. There is a full-size box office with a direct telephone number. There is a costume shop (now brimming with costumes), a prop shop, and a scene shop all backstage. Remember our beloved "Mt. Furniture"? Well, it is back and full. There is a complete fly system. There are two dressing rooms with restrooms and showers. The two theatre classrooms are joined by the theatre office. They look on to an enclosed patio area. One of the two rooms doubles as a black-box theatre. The choir suite has a large choir room, an ensemble room and three practice rooms. It is also equipped with two rooms for storage plus the choir office. There is a dance room with mirrors along one long wall. The phone numbers for the Fine Arts Center are 337-3334 (Theatre Office) and the FAC box office 337-3309.
