How do I upgrade my Netscape?

When you have recived the Netscape software from FlashNet and installed it, you will need to register your copy with Netscape. This is done by going here. This will take you to Netscape's registration site. Follow the instructions there. Once you have registered your software with Netscape you will be able to upgrade at that time by clicking on the software button. That will take you to Netscape's upgrade page.

Note:You are eligible to two major upgrades and any minor upgrade within one year of your registering with Netscape. You can only upgrade with the same type software (i.e. If you registered a 16-bit copy of Netscape Navigator. You can only upgrade to a 16-bit version, not a 32-bit version.


Why don't I connect at the full speed of my modem?

Normal connect rates on analog lines will be between 21.6 and 28.8; 33.6 connect rates are difficult to achieve on analog lines. Keep in mind that the connect rate reported at logon is just a snapshot of that moment and your actual rates will fluctuate up and down during the time you are connected. You may want to run a dedicated line from your computer phone jack straight to the phone box on your house bypassing other house phone jacks and circuits that may be causing line noise or other interference. check modem setup; be sure max speed is 115k, data compression is on and flow control is set to hardware. How do I remove files from my website?

In order to remove files from your website, you will need an FTP program, available from our Software Download Site. Then you will need to connect as shown in our "Where-to-Web" link from our Support link from our homepage. Once you are connected, you will have the option of "Delete"ing files.

How do I Change My username and/or password?

If you would like to change your username and/or password you will need to call FlashNet's techinal support line at (817)833-8878, (214)299-2290, or 1(800)flash34. You will need your customer number, username, password, customer secret. If you do not have this information FlashNet Will not be able to change any customer information due to security reasons.

Note: If you did not receive your first choice in usernames, it has most likely already been taken by another customer, and technical support cannot give it to you.


How do I use my second email account with Netscape Navigator?

With Netscape Navigator only one users email profile can specified at one time. You will have to change the email settings everytime you want to check a different users email. Click here to find out how to setup your Netscape email settings. You can use another email client, such as Eudora to access your second emailbox. If, however, you have more than two email addresses, and want them all within one program, there are a number of email programs out that allow you to setup multiple users. One you might want to try is Pegasus email client. It is free to download and use.

Why can't I dial in on my email account?

An email account is just that. You will have to use your dialin account to get connected to FlashNet and then check your second email account. Click here to find out how to setup your Netscape email settings for changing to the other email profile.

How do I forward my mail to another account?

To forward your mail to another internet mail account, go to http://pop.flash.net/cgi-bin/set and enter your username and password. You will then be asked to provide an email address and then hit the update button. Your mail will then be forwarded. To clear the forward, visit the page again, and remove the address from the box and hit update.

Here's how to connect to AOL using an ISP and the AOL client:

Using the AOL v3.0 for Windows client:

1) Sign on to your ISP
2) Launch your AOL software
3) Click "setup"
4) Click "create location"
5) Type "TCP/IP" in the "location" box
6) Set the modem speeds to 57,600
7) Set the "network" to "TCP/IP"
8) Click "save"
9) Make sure that TCP/IP is highlighted in the "Choose Location" field
10) Click "OK"
11) You're now at the sign on window
12) Click "sign on" and the client should establish a TCP/IP connection to AOL.
13) If the next time you want to sign on using the regular phone number you'll
    need to click on "setup" and highlight the appropiate "location".

To do the same on a Mac using the version 3.0 AOL for Mac client:

1) Sign onto your ISP
2) Launch the AOL software
3) In the locality selector on the sign on screen select TCP/IP
4) Sign on to AOL
