Kite Ferry
(In the picture on the right, you can barely see my 4X4
Tetra)
This contraption carries a 'payload' to the top of the kite line (to
the kite) and then releases the payload and traverses back down the
line to the ground. The ferry sail is split in 2 parts - each outside
corner has a string that keeps the 'wings' perpendicular to the line
until he release, allowing the 2 sails of the kite to fold back and
scream back down the line to the ground.
Ideas and original plans by Anthony Thyssen at http://anthony.kitelife.com/parafauna/messenger/
Materials: Aluminum tube, coat hanger, snap swivels, 1/4"
dowels, and a couple of anti-static bags for electronics.
