About SHARK     Welcome to the South Houston Area Recreational Kiters web site. This is a new family oriented club in the Houston-Galveston Area for those who enjoy kites and kiting, whether your interests are in single line, sport kites, fighter kites, power and traction kites, or kitemaking. All are Welcome to join! We are dedicated to promoting kiting through information and education, activities and events throughout the year. We're usually flying weekly at a local flying field or at Galveston beach. South Houston Area Recreational Kiters was formed in late 2001 by Steve Verberne, Spence Wikel, Dave Bacqué and Don Hamill after a Dodd Gross Flight School on East Beach in Galveston when a need was realized by all to have a means of getting together to learn, teach and improve our stunt flying skills. This rapidly progressed into a club where we have not only improved stunt kite flying, but have become involved in fighter kites, kite building, single line kiting and even some traction kiting. Our goal with this club is to teach, learn and most important to share the joy of kiting!
