President's LetterHello Everyone and Happy New Year!
I hope all of you had a pleasant and joyful holiday season with your family and friends! We had a wonderful Christmas Party last month at Harrigan’s. Several members who do not regularly attend monthly meetings were at the party – it was great to have them!
We all enjoyed the annual “fish gift swap”. There were many really nice fish and lots of fish stuff that were “stolen” the maximum number of times!
Our next monthly meeting is at Melissa and Larry Lampert’s in Dallas on January 18th. Larry will talk about and show slides of darters. We will also hold election of officers: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. All members are eligible to be an officer. If anyone has any questions about officers’ responsibilities, or is interested in running for an office, please contact me.
As I said last month, the Texas Cichlid Association will celebrate its TWENTY-YEAR ANNIVERSARY this year! I am extremely pleased to announce that confirmed speakers include Ad Konings and Toby Veall! Toby owns the collecting station in Zambia on Lake Tanganyika known as Rift Valley Tropicals. We are very fortunate to get both of these world-renowned speakers! The convention will be June 6– 8, 2003.
We are still working on many details including the hotel and other speakers. When the details are finished, we will send out flyers and publicity, and post the information on TCA’s website. I am shooting for middle to late January.
If you have any ideas, suggestions, old TCA stuff, or pictures, please contact any board member or me. We want to make this a great celebration, and all help will be appreciated!!!
Kathy
