Hello Everyone!
Thanks to Randy Rhoades for hosting our September meeting!  We had a small turnout; but, as always, it was enjoyable visiting & looking at Randy’s fish!

The Fall 2001 Workshop is just around the corner!  It is October 20 – 21, 2001 at the Knights Inn in Arlington.  Speakers include Larry Lampert, on collecting fish in Mexico, Julia Mann, expert Discus breeder & judge, and Ron Georgeone from Cleveland, who wins more ACA medallions for his beautiful show fish than anyone in the country.  Speakers will be on Saturday and the auction on Sunday.  Everyone, members and non-members are invited to hang out after the talks on Saturday for more fish talk & socializing!

The annual FOTAS (Federation of Texas Aquarium Societies) Convention was September 14 – 16, 2001 hosted by the Brazos Valley Aquarium Society in College Station.  Ed Taylor, the featured speaker, drove from Virginia to Texas to make sure he didn’t miss the event.  His talks included many very interesting non-cichlid fish.  In addition, we were able to tour the laboratory at Texas A & M where research is being done on geophagine cichlids.

The TCA Christmas party is December 8, 2001 at Harrigan’s Restaurant in Arlington.  We will have the annual fish swap – so bring that really neat fish or fishes Christmas gift wrapped!  The Christmas party is always lots of fun and a great way to celebrate the holidays with fishy friends!

We have lots of things going on next year, including election of officers at the January 2002 meeting.  Board members will also be elected for a two year term.  All TCA members are eligible and are encouraged to serve!

TCA will also host the FOTAS Convention in April next year.  It is the 50th anniversary of FOTAS!  Several excellent speakers including Ad Konings, Wayne Leibel, and Rusty Wessel have committed to come to Texas!  We hope to involve as many aquarium societies as possible.  Please spread the word to all hobbyists and clubs – we want to publicize this as much as possible.  Marvin England is already calling folks for show entries!  So get ready!

See y’all at the Fall Workshop!
